We continue to tweak and adapt our plans to improve the back to school experience for our students at Saint John Paul II! As we share information, please read it carefully. As developments arise, we will provide you with the most up-to-date information.
Operational Guidelines – Parent Information
Please visit this website to obtain information as to the processes and protocols that are to be implemented throughout our schools to give confidence to our parents that we are ready for the students to return to school.
School Re-Opening – Staggered Entry
Kindergarten: We will be welcoming our JK students and a parent as per usual on Tuesday, September 8th. If you are a parent of a JK student you will be receiving your visit time when you pick up your Sneak Peek packages on Wednesday, September 2nd. SK students will start school on Wednesday, September 9th. On Thursday, September 10th, all SK students and half of the JK students will attend. On Friday, September 11th, all SK students will attend with the other half of the JK students.
Grades 1 and 2 students will start on Tuesday, September 8th, and attend each day from then on.
Grades 3 and 4 students will start on Wednesday, September 9th, and attend each day following.
Grades 5 and 6 students will start on Thursday, September 10th, and attend each day following.
Grades 7 and 8 students will start on Friday, September 11th, and attend from then on.
Please do not go out to purchase school supplies. Individual student kits (provided by the Board) will be arriving at school for each student in addition to the regular classroom supplies. The materials will be specific to the grade your child(ren) is/are in (i.e., scissors, pencil crayons or crayons, markers, pencils, pencil sharpeners, etc. placed in a special student bag). Parents are encouraged to purchase a pair of indoor shoes and mask. Other item: water bottle as water fountains are closed but refilling stations are open. Preferably one that the child is not easily touching the drinking spout.
Some students from our school have selected to engage in remote learning. Please know that this is NOT associated with our school specifically but with the WCDSB. Presently, remote learning is set to commence on September 14th, for all students who indicated this on the School Re-Opening Survey. Information will be sent shortly to let you know the contact information of the teacher that your child(ren) will be working with. The survey is now closed but students can change their decision at three points throughout the year. The first opportunity will come after the first 4-week cycle which is around Thanksgiving in early October. The next opportunity to change will be at Progress Report time in November. A third opportunity is at Term 1 report card time in late January/February. More information regarding these specific dates and methods of choice will come in the next few weeks.
