Good afternoon, SUNS!

Today, we continue our look at Bullying Awareness and Prevention.  Our theme today is: Awaken your listening ear!

We need to truly listen to one another. How can you let someone know you are listening to them? Learning to recognize and celebrate how people are both the same and different helps students appreciate diversity and to respect and care for each other.

Today, students participated in ‘Talking Circles’. Speaking openly and listening to each others’ stories helps students learn about others’ perspectives, as well as provides a safe space to connect and develop relationships with their peers (Absolon, 2010). Talking circles are rooted in the Indigenous practice of sharing circles where a group of people share feelings and discuss issues in a safe climate of trust and cooperation.

Ask your children how they were able to awaken their listening ears.

Great job today SUNS!
