Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Postpartum Depression (PPD) in Kitchener/Waterloo:   Postpartum Mothers may be eligible to receive a free, evidence-based, non-pharmacological treatment for postpartum depression.

McMaster University and the Women’s Health Concerns Clinic at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton have partnered with Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre to conduct a study of a 1-Day Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) workshop for women with Postpartum Depression (PPD).

The Treatment: CBT is a first-line treatment for PPD and these 1-Day CBT workshops are being held to help reduce PPD symptoms. They will be delivered by Dr. Ryan Van Lieshout, Psychiatrist and author of the Canadian Network for Mood and Anxiety Treatments (CANMAT) Treatment Guidelines for Perinatal Depression.

Eligibility: Women may be eligible for the study if they:

·         Have an infant <12 months old

·         Have an Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) score between 10 and 25

·         Understand and speak English

How to Refer: Please find a poster attached with information about the study that can be posted in offices/community space and shared online, as well as a copy of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), a valid screening tool with which eligible women can be identified. A formal mail-out letter is also included.

**An information session is being held for eligible participants Wednesday March 21st from 6-7pm at Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre.**

Women can also self-refer and you can support them in doing so by encouraging them to contact the study coordinator, Meena Rangan, at kw1daycbt@gmail.com or Wanda Kampijan, Family Support Program Supervisor wkampijan@ourplacekw.ca /519-571-1626 x25

Our Place Family Resource and Early Years Centre is pleased to partner with Dr Ryan Van Lieshout in the continued effort to support Mother’s on their Postpartum journey.
