Good afternoon SUNS Community!

Please see the important information and dates below!  Have a great week!

Terry Fox was a HUGE success!

Thank you to everyone who donated to our annual Terry Fox Run.  This year we were able to raise just about $3500 and the Terry Fox Foundation is very happy to receive our donation!  Together, we can make a difference!  Thank you SUNS!

Parking Lot Praises!

Thank you to all who are doing a wonderful job with drop-off and pick-up this year.  We have very few cars that we are seeing try to come into the staff parking lot or on the ring road.  Our collaborative efforts toward the safety of all is really working!  Thank you SUNS!

Be Respectful of others, please…

We are asking for our parent community to continue to be role models for our students at pick-up time.  If you are walking to school to pick up your child, please know that several students are intimidated by large dogs.  We would ask that you consider this when you are bringing dogs to pick up children.  They are absolutely NOT allowed on school property, but we would ask that even when you are on our sidewalks you are being respectful of each other and that you are being positive role models for your children and grandchildren.  Any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the office.

New Method of Enforcement in School Zones – a message from Kitchener Bylaw:

Starting next week, the City of Kitchener will be using a new tool to enforce school zone parking. Officers will scan license plates using a License Plate Recognition (LPR) vehicle in school zones. This technology scans license plates for offences and is activated by the officer on arrival at school zone areas. The vehicle will automatically take pictures of offences, and any offence will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle later that day. This technology has been used with success in municipalities such as Brampton and Toronto, and Kitchener hopes to have the same success they have had.

For more information on the City of Kitchener’s parking by-laws, please visit their website.

Thanksgiving Food Drive is already upon us!

Thanksgiving is just 2 short weeks away!  As always, we will bring in donations of food items to support the many people in our larger community who may need it, especially at this time.  We realize that prices are going up for everyone and many are struggling more than they typically would.  It is during these times that supporting our fellow community members is more important than ever!  Please bring in a non-perishable food item to support our St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Please see the following link for the most needed items as reported by the KW Food Bank: https://www.thefoodbank.ca/get-involved/most-needed/

Are you ready for a SPOOK-a-THON?

This year we will be holding our major fundraiser at Halloween!  We encourage students to wear costumes (no masks or props of course) and participate in a wonderful day of parades and dancing!  We will look to conduct our fundraiser with all funds going towards the installation of TURF on our primary soccer field.  This will be a major undertaking and much more information will be coming home soon!
